Dorset Community Dental Service
About
Dorset Community Dental Service provides NHS specialist dental care to patients in Dorset who are unable to access or tolerate routine dental treatment in a general practice setting. The service is operated by Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and accepts referrals from GPs, dentists, and other healthcare professionals across Dorset. Patients seen include those with severe dental anxiety or phobia, complex medical conditions, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and other special needs that require specialist management. Treatment is provided at community dental clinic locations across Dorset, including in Bournemouth and Poole, as well as outreach to patients who are housebound or in care settings. The service does not accept self-referrals; patients must be referred through their GP, dentist, or other healthcare provider.
