1. About these terms

These terms of use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the OpenWide website at www.openwide.clinic and all related services (the “Platform”). By using the Platform, you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

OpenWide is operated from the United Kingdom. These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

2. What OpenWide provides

OpenWide is a dental clinic directory and booking platform. We provide:

  • A searchable directory of dental practices across the UK
  • Information on NHS acceptance status, treatments, pricing, and reviews
  • Online appointment booking through integrated dental practice systems
  • A matching service that recommends clinics based on your needs
  • Expert dental support and personalised clinic shortlists

OpenWide is not a healthcare provider. We do not provide dental treatment, clinical advice, or medical diagnoses. The information on this Platform is for general informational purposes only and should not be treated as a substitute for professional dental advice.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account
  • Parents or guardians may book appointments on behalf of children
  • You must provide accurate and complete information when registering
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials

4. User accounts

When you create an account you agree to:

  • Provide truthful, accurate, and current information
  • Keep your login credentials confidential
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activity under your account

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms, or if your account poses a security risk.

5. Bookings and appointments

5.1 How bookings work

When you book an appointment through OpenWide, you are entering into an arrangement directly with the dental practice, not with OpenWide. We act as an intermediary to facilitate the booking.

5.2 Deposits

Some practices require a deposit to confirm a booking. Deposits are processed by Stripe and are subject to the practice's own refund and cancellation policy. OpenWide does not hold or manage deposit funds.

5.3 Cancellations

Cancellation and rescheduling policies are set by individual dental practices. Please contact the practice directly regarding any changes to your appointment. OpenWide is not responsible for fees arising from missed or cancelled appointments.

5.4 Appointment confirmation

Appointment requests submitted through OpenWide are subject to confirmation by the dental practice. A booking request does not guarantee an appointment until confirmed by the practice.

6. Practice information and listings

We make reasonable efforts to ensure practice information (addresses, opening hours, NHS status, pricing) is accurate and up to date. However:

  • Practice details are sourced from public records, practice submissions, and third-party data. We cannot guarantee their accuracy at all times
  • NHS acceptance status is monitored regularly but may change without notice
  • Treatment pricing shown is indicative and may differ from the final cost quoted by the practice
  • Reviews and ratings are sourced from Google and other public sources. We do not verify individual reviews
  • Verified badges indicate the practice has been authenticated by our team, not that we endorse their clinical quality

7. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use the Platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
  • Attempt to access another user's account
  • Scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Platform in bulk without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure
  • Upload malicious code, spam, or unsolicited communications
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Use the Platform to harass, abuse, or harm dental practices or other users

8. Intellectual property

All content on the Platform (including text, design, code, logos, and the OpenWide brand) is owned by or licensed to OpenWide and is protected by UK and international intellectual property law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written consent.

Practice-submitted content (images, descriptions) remains the property of the respective practice. By submitting content, practices grant OpenWide a non-exclusive licence to display it on the Platform.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • OpenWide is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied
  • We are not liable for the quality, safety, or outcome of any dental treatment received through a practice found on our Platform
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information displayed on the Platform
  • We are not liable for actions, omissions, or negligence of dental practices listed on the Platform
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you have paid to OpenWide (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OpenWide, its officers, employees, and partners from any claims, losses, or damages (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Platform.

11. For dental practices

If you are a dental practice listed on OpenWide:

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit
  • You must honour appointments booked through the Platform, subject to your own policies
  • You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including CQC registration requirements and GDC standards
  • You grant OpenWide permission to display publicly available information about your practice (name, address, NHS status, reviews)
  • Claiming your practice listing requires identity verification

12. Data protection

Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Platform and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the service. Upon termination, your right to use the Platform ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability, indemnification, and intellectual property) shall survive.

14. Dispute resolution

If you have a dispute with a dental practice, we encourage you to resolve it directly with the practice. OpenWide may assist by facilitating communication but is not obligated to mediate or resolve disputes.

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
